New Delhi [India]November 3 (ANI): An airport operated by the Indian Navy in Goa facilitated the safe recovery of an Israeli flight flying from Bangkok to Tel Aviv.
The flight carried 276 crew members and it made an emergency landing in the early hours of Monday.
“In the rapid execution of emergency procedures, the Indian Navy operated an airport in Devolim, Goa enabled a safe recovery of flight ELAL-082 en route from Bangkok to Tel Aviv with 276 crew members on board, the flight made an emergency landing in the early morning hours of November 1, 21” Indian Navy spokesman in tweet.
The plane declared a state of emergency due to the shutdown of the left engine. The airport was closed for ongoing renovations, but it has become available allowing for safe recovery of aircraft.
“The aircraft declared an emergency while quoting a left engine shutdown. The airport which was closed for ongoing upgrade work became available at short notice, allowing for safe recovery of aircraft according to standard operating procedures,” the Indian Navy spokesman announced in a series of tweets.
